Database Administrator at Renmoney

Description

A database administrator (DBA) that will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialized role.
  • Design and implement databases in accordance with end user’s information needs and views.
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user in an appropriate format and in a timely manner.
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
  • Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Monitor database efficiency.
  • Sustain the security and integrity of data.
  • Create complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted.
  • Train colleagues on how to input and extract data.
  • Secure the database by developing policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure all data complies with legal and international regulations.
  • Maintain database results by setting and enforcing standards and controls.
  • Prepare for database expansion by studying plans and requirements; advising senior technical management; coordinating design and programming.
  • Keep senior technical management informed by preparing reports on system performance and problems.
  • Any other task as advised by the Head of Information Technology.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an Information Technology-related course.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience.
  • Relevant certifications are desirable (AWS Certified Database - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL Server Certification, Oracle Database Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
  • User support experience is desirable.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, including RDS, EC2, S3, and other relevant services.
  • Proven experience in data migration and database consolidation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
