A database administrator (DBA) that will keep the database up and running
smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information
throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and
frontend accessibility for end-users.
Responsibilities
Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on
each end user’s specialized role.
Design and implement databases in accordance with end user’s
information needs and views.
Define users and enable data distribution to the right user in an
appropriate format and in a timely manner.
Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast
query responses.
Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training
to users.
Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and
standards.
Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security,
privacy, and integrity.
Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new
patches and versions when required.
Monitor database efficiency.
Sustain the security and integrity of data.
Create complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted.
Train colleagues on how to input and extract data.
Secure the database by developing policies, procedures, and
controls.
Ensure all data complies with legal and international regulations.
Maintain database results by setting and enforcing standards and
controls.
Prepare for database expansion by studying plans and requirements;
advising senior technical management; coordinating design and
programming.
Keep senior technical management informed by preparing reports on
system performance and problems.
Any other task as advised by the Head of Information Technology.
Requirements
B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an Information
Technology-related course.
Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience.
Relevant certifications are desirable (AWS Certified Database -
Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified
Database Administrator, Microsoft SQL Server Certification, Oracle
Database Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional, PostgreSQL,
or equivalent).
User support experience is desirable.
Extensive experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS,
including RDS, EC2, S3, and other relevant services.
Proven experience in data migration and database consolidation
projects.
Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning
and optimization.
Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with
team members and stakeholders.
