Main Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Supports the development and implementation of the Exams communications strategy.
- Manages the delivery of Exams external and internal communications campaigns.
- Provides strategic oversight in communicating the British Council’s Exams profile.
- Manages media relations activities for Exams across the region.
- Ensures that Exams communications maintain the reputation of the British Council.
Consultancy, Analysis & Problem-Solving
- Applies advanced communications expertise to provide advice to key stakeholders.
- Develops appropriate communications initiatives aligned with business needs.
- Presents complex information clearly to influence decision-makers.
- Builds an in-depth understanding of the operational context and challenges.
Subject/Sector Expertise
- Ensures consistent application of global communications and brand standards.
- Reviews the impact and effectiveness of communications projects.
- Provides expert advice on communications strategies.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Plans and manages the budget for communications projects.
- Conducts monthly and year-end reporting on progress.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management
- Develops strong relationships with marketing and communications professionals globally.
- Participates in the Marketing Community of Practice and communication networks.
- Proactively builds relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Leadership and Management
- Plans and prioritizes work activities effectively.
- Coordinates input from multiple stakeholders to meet objectives.
Role Specific Knowledge and Experience
Minimum/Essential:
- Relevant degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in managing communications in a large organization.
- Expertise in internal and external communications strategies.
- Proven record of editorial experience (proofreading, content creation).
- Practical experience using social media for communication campaigns.
Desirable:
- Experience in a global organization.
- Project management skills.
