The site SHE Manager has overall responsibility for managing Safety, Health & Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at the site level. S/he works with site Supply Chain teams to develop and implement the local SHE Strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SHE excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs ensuring compliance with Unilever’s policies and regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement towards zero harm.
Your Job Description
Develop, implement and maintain site specific SHE strategies, policies and procedures in line with Unilever standards, National laws and corporate standards.
Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and ensure effective implementation of appropriate control measures.
Lead investigations for incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis, closure of corrective actions and advising the line management in all accidents/incidents investigations.
Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behavior observations and deep compliance audits.
Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever BBS Program and support deployment in the site.
Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever PSM Program (as applicable to the site PS risks), support deployment in the site and apply Unilever guidelines and procedures for Process Safety assessment (SIMAS).
Ensure the implementation of safety and compliance at Partners’ (Logistics, Manufacturing) and site locations.
Champion SHE programs and drive a culture of safety through behavioral safety initiatives, engagement programs, toolbox talks to improve SHE culture in accordance with UMS, legislation, internal policies, OHS plan and national laws.
Plan annual SHE training needs and ensure SHE trainings and induction for all employees, visitors and contractors.
Lead internal SHE audits and coordinate external regulatory, corporate audits and inspections.
Analyze monthly SHE performance data and reports for leadership.
Coordinate emergency response preparedness and periodic drills.
Collaborate with factory and line managers to integrate SHE into all site operations and decision-making.
Ensure compliance with the permit to work system — capability building and governance.
Liaise with both local and national regulatory agencies and authorities when needed.
Lead or participate in sustainability projects by reducing the site’s environmental impact in the areas of COD, hazardous & non-hazardous waste, SOx, Nox, energy consumption, GHG emission reduction, water conservation, etc. in compliance with ESRS requirements.
Implement warehouse safety plan.
Roll out the safe travel program to internal employees and third parties.
Verify with local authorities the conformity with regulations, mandatory licenses and reports.
Ensure compliance with the mandatory UL SHE documentation of all contractors on site.
Distribute and/or verify the use of the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and their condition.
The Job Requirements
University degree in Engineering/ Science/Safety, Environmental or Risk Management or related field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing environment.
Must have ISPON certification
Recognized preferred SHE certification (e.g, NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Lead Auditor)
Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
Good understanding of local SHE regulations and global standards & Process Safety
Working knowledge using all SHE digital tools and how those tools integrate into other functional work processes
Experience with work processes across all functions to integrate SHE standards and tools effectively.
Ability to influence strategic outcomes in a complex, matrixed organization.
Excellent knowledge of SHE standards
Proficient use of digital tools
Ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize simultaneously.
