About the Job
To provide legal, regulatory, and transactional advice and support to the Investment Banking (IB), Client Coverage, Global Markets (GM) and Transaction Banking Business areas of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC and Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited (together “Stanbic IBTC”), with the objective of assisting the business leaders of those businesses in achieving their business goals in a manner consistent with sound risk management.
Your Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Draft and comprehensively review all legal documentation including, but not limited to, Loan Agreements, Term Sheets, facility offer letters, NDAs, and all related security and supporting documents.
Review and vet signed legal documentation and conditions precedent to loan or facility drawdowns to ensure full compliance with approved credit terms, except where expressly waived or deferred by the Credit team.
Proactively identify legal risks within the Stanbic IBTC business environment and external legal landscape, notify the line manager of identified risks, and develop procedures to manage, mitigate, monitor, and report such risks.
Resolve credit, legal, and business concerns using solution-oriented approaches that balance the Bank’s commercial objectives with legal obligations.
Prepare and revise Bonds, Guarantees, Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs), and other contingent liability instruments.
Advise on Investment Banking transactions including, but not limited to, Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), debt financing, and other corporate finance transactions as required.
Collaborate closely with other CIB lawyers to identify legal risks, provide clear and practical mitigation advice, report non-compliance incidents, and ensure risks are fully understood and properly managed.
The Job Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelors-in-Law from a university (LLB) as well as the Nigerian Law School (B.L) required.
Experience Required
5–8 years' experience handling legal issues, liaising with regulators, and working with external solicitors.
5–8 years' experience in investment banking transactions and corporate finance deals is an added advantage.
