Economic Recovery Coordinator at Danish Refugee Council

Job Title: Economic Recovery Coordinator at Danish Refugee Council

Date Posted: 21th December, 2025.

Expiry Date: 04 Jan 2026

About the Job

Background

In Nigeria, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) operates within the context of a protracted humanitarian crisis driven by conflict, displacement, environmental degradation, and economic instability. These challenges are particularly acute in the northeastern and northwestern regions of the country.

DRC has been operational in Nigeria since 2015, responding to humanitarian needs arising from armed conflict, climate-related shocks, economic pressures, and social tensions affecting vulnerable and displacement-affected populations.

DRC’s interventions in Nigeria are organised across key sectors including Protection, Economic Recovery, Water, Sanitation and Infrastructure (WASI), Shelter and Infrastructure, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding.

Geographically, DRC operates in the Northeast in Borno and Adamawa States, and in the Northwest in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina States. Across these locations, DRC implements both humanitarian response and solutions-oriented programming, with a strong focus on internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and host communities affected by displacement.

Purpose

The Economic Recovery (EC Rec) Coordinator works closely with DRC Nigeria’s coordination and implementation teams in the Northeast and Northwest, as well as implementing and strategic partners.

The position provides strategic and technical oversight across all Economic Recovery core sectors, including food security, livelihoods, agriculture, financial inclusion, and market systems, ensuring high-quality programme design and delivery.

The role leads the technical direction of DRC’s Economic Recovery portfolio, including graduation approach programming, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), and market systems approaches, and supports the development of strategies, tools, standard operating procedures, capacity building, and new funding opportunities.

    • Contribute to fundraising efforts by identifying funding opportunities, contributing to concept notes, and supporting full proposal development, particularly for graduation, livelihoods, and social protection programming.
    • Produce advocacy materials highlighting EcRec results, innovations, and needs to support strategic engagement and donor visibility.
    • Liaise with HQ Hub and global EcRec counterparts to ensure alignment with global DRC approaches and learning.
  3. Coordination, Representation, and Advocacy

    • Maintain strong collaboration with technical leads across DRC Nigeria, WAAM HQ Hub, and HQ to ensure technical consistency and harmonisation.
    • Participate actively in programme planning meetings and internal coordination processes.
    • Coordinate closely with MEAL, Protection, and other sector technical teams to ensure an integrated and protection-mainstreamed approach.
    • Provide onboarding, handover briefings, and training for new EcRec staff and short-term technical support deployments.
