The Head, Core Technology manages the effective deployment of solutions through the combined application of software engineering and systems administration practices to support multiple business divisions in this fast-paced payment industry. This role is responsible for all site reliability engineering within the organization. Ensure stability and scalability, drive the overall availability, reliability and resiliency of Interswitch products and services while anticipating capacity growth through careful planning and awareness of trends.

Responsibilities
Direct and oversee infrastructure development and maintenance to ensure continuous availability, reliability, and stability of all applications, minimizing downtime and business disruption.
Ensure system reliability for production-critical databases, web-based consumer-facing applications (VM-based and containerized), and the core payment switch.
Define the vision and strategy for the core technology team in alignment with enterprise architecture and business objectives.
Develop a strategic architecture plan that prioritizes data features, ensures reliable estimates, realizes benefits, and proactively tracks design activities.
Lead the definition of architectural standards across applications, data, integration, technology, security, and business services.
Present business and IT leaders with signature-ready recommendations to adjust policies and projects in order to achieve target business outcomes and leverage digital disruption.
Elicit complex business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, translating them into user roles and goals.
Communicate and drive the implementation of strategic and business plans within the department, aligning them with organizational mission, vision, and values.
Drive application and infrastructure security by ensuring appropriate security programs are in place to minimize breaches and maintain uninterrupted availability.
Lead vulnerability detection, analysis, and remediation in accordance with security incident management procedures.
Ensure business activities comply with external regulatory technology governance requirements and internal policies to minimize risk and protect organizational reputation.
Manage and report on team performance, set clear objectives, enforce accountability, and take corrective actions to achieve team and individual goals.
Identify individual and team development needs using the organization’s formal development framework.
Enable team delivery through technical guidance, coaching, development, and feedback while maintaining high quality and team engagement.
The Job Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
University degree in the field of computer science or a STEM major
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or a related field.
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of 12 years of IT and business/industry work experience, including
architecture design and systems deployment, software lifecycle management,
site reliability engineering, and infrastructure automation.
Leadership experience managing multiple large, cross-functional teams or
projects, with the ability to influence senior-level management and key stakeholders.
Solid knowledge of electronic funds transfer processes with a minimum of
8 years’ experience.
Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing teams.
Experience with popular public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
In-depth knowledge of database technologies, including relational databases,
real-time databases, and NoSQL databases.
Experience developing for and managing Kubernetes clusters.
Experience creating automated software development build pipelines.
In-depth knowledge of techniques and tools for implementing and supporting
infrastructure-as-code and automation, such as Ansible, Terraform, and Chef.
