Your Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
PURPOSE
Extraction of mobile teeth in adults and deciduous teeth in children under local anesthesia.
Conduct pulpotomy, pulpectomy, and suture removal procedures.
Take and interpret periapical and bitewing radiographs.
Administer local anesthesia using dentoalveolar infiltration, inferior dental nerve blocks, and topical anesthesia.
Prepare cavities and restore temporary and permanent teeth.
Examine oral tissues, diagnose dental caries, and identify other abnormalities within the oral environment.
Perform gum massage procedures, cheek and jaw exercises when indicated.
Carry out scaling and polishing for all patients.
Perform root planing, gingivectomy, desensitization of teeth, and apply fissure sealants and fluoride treatments.
Take and interpret periapical and bitewing radiographs.
ENGAGEMENT
Provide oral toileting and management for physically challenged and medically compromised patients and other patients with special needs, especially during admission.
Work collaboratively with all members of the dental and medical team to ensure optimal patient management and satisfaction, including assisting dentists during procedures when required.
Deliver oral health education and awareness programs to schools, canteens, organizations, and community groups.
Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain, restore health, and prevent disease.
DELIVERY
Follow up with patients and arrange appropriate referrals as necessary.
Disinfect the working area and wash or sterilize instruments according to the clinic’s daily check routine.
Provide oral hygiene instruction, dietary counseling, and post-operative guidance to patients.
The Job Requirements
Targeted Specialized Knowledge
A Higher National Diploma in Dental Therapy with 1-year medical internship
OR Bachelor of Technology in Public Health Dental Therapy.
Board registration and a valid current practicing license.
HND in Dental Therapy with more than 5 years’ experience.
Additional work-related certifications.
