About the Job

As a support lead for the infrastructure component of the Advancing Cross-border Resilience and Opportunities for Safety and Security (ACROSS) Project in Nigeria, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through coordinating and reporting all Productive and Social Infrastructure component project activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partner(s) advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that the ACROSS project in Nigeria applies best practices and continually works towards improving the impact of its benefits on those we serve.

Your Job Description

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and coordinate all infrastructure development projects as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices. Complete project documentation for assigned activities and assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
  • Monitor and report challenges and gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in reflecting on project experiences.
  • Support working relationships with all local project stakeholders (community, INGO/NGO, and government) and serve as liaison between them and the project team to mobilize local actors and promote project activities and impact. Supervise and perform ad-hoc inspections at project sites to ensure timely implementation and adherence to established standards and procedures. Ensure proper tracking of resource utilization through periodic budget reviews and follow-up with implementing partners.
  • Produce technical designs and drawings, structural plans, and bills of quantities for proposed infrastructure projects or engage relevant technical specialists to ensure quality delivery. Prepare indicative budgets for all designed infrastructure works.
  • Work closely with relevant project staff to design the Cash-for-Work (CFW) protocol following community and LGA-level assessments. Collaborate with community leaders to identify skilled and unskilled CFW beneficiaries and oversee beneficiary training programs.
  • Support accountability through coordination of project evaluation activities and assist partners with project data collection and analysis using specified tools and mechanisms. Collaborate with local partners to prepare reports in line with the established reporting schedule.
  • Collect information on staff capacity and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity-building and technical-support activities to ensure effective project impact.

The Job Requirements

Required Languages

English is required, and Hausa is an additional advantage.

Travel

Must be willing and able to travel up to 75%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, and CommCare is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with construction designs/drawings, structural designs, bills of quantities, and engineering design software for water works or civil works (AutoCAD, EPANET, Autodesk Revit, etc.).
  • Supervisory responsibility over construction supervisors and vendors/contractors.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; degrees in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building, or Construction Management are an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in project support, ideally within construction or infrastructure management.
  • At least 2 years of experience implementing community or infrastructure development projects with NGOs or similar organizations.
  • Additional experience may substitute for some educational requirements.
  • Professional registration or membership (COREN, NSE, NIA, ARCON, COBON, etc.) is an advantage.
