Your Job Description

Job Duties

  • Under general supervision, provides on-site supervision of the Measurement-While Drilling (MWD), Logging-While Drilling (LWD), and Directional Drilling (DD) processes, including tool preparation, data acquisition, log generation, quality control, and delivery of services to customers.
  • Understands principles of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) selection and Directional Drilling performance, ensuring BHAs are assembled as planned with correct make-up torque, doping, and handling.
  • Ensures all data presented to customers is accurate, timely, and meets the highest service quality standards.
  • Provides technical consultation and advice to customers using DD software, well path projections, well profile plots, survey calculations, and directional survey data in accordance with client surveying procedures.
  • Properly tests all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job, identifying and correcting operational problems to minimize service impact.
  • Works with RDC engineers to complete all required forms, databases, and reports, including service vouchers, lost or damaged equipment reports, radiation site surveys, End of Job Customer Survey (EJCS) reports, and First Alert Database (FAD) or Correction, Prevention and Improvement (CPI) documentation.
  • Interfaces with the Remote Drilling Coordinator and/or Directional Driller to ensure BHA compatibility, operating parameters are within specification, correct toolface references are applied, and toolface control is maintained throughout the well path.
  • Assists in the preparation of daily DD reports, BHA performance reports, service tickets, and related documentation such as well data spreadsheets and lessons learned or best practices.
  • Maintains records of all DD equipment at the well site, including dimensional data and condition, and ensures equipment is properly laid out and manifested for backload after job completion.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives as required.
  • Requires completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, with an undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline required.
  • Requires completion of basic MWD/LWD and DD training programs, and a minimum of one year of experience in LWD and DD operations. Relevant onshore or offshore safety certifications must be held or obtainable.
