WTS Energy is seeking a Lifting Specialist to oversee safe and controlled rigging and lifting operations within their area of expertise. Responsibilities
Organize and oversee safe, controlled rigging and lifting operations on production sites, ensuring strict compliance with WTS Energy’s safety rules, operating procedures, and industry standards.
Collaborate with planning engineers to provide accurate resourcing and planning inputs for the effective preparation and execution of all rigging and lifting activities.
Supervise and support specialists and technicians under specific maintenance contracts, ensuring high-quality performance and adherence to safety protocols.
Monitor and maintain rigging and lifting equipment certification, condition, and availability, including quarantining unsafe equipment until reviewed or replaced.
Manage rigging equipment stores and databases, ensuring proper handling, storage, and competence of personnel using the equipment.
Lead and mentor team members, facilitating skill transfer and professional development through hands-on guidance and example.
Conduct risk assessments for complex lifting and rigging operations during maintenance and inspection preparation, maintaining comprehensive lifting plans and risk assessment records.
Identify and analyze recurrent equipment lifting issues, proposing improvements and alerting support and planning teams to equipment availability or quality concerns.
Perform frequent on-site quality assurance checks of team interventions, ensuring all work meets required standards before hand-back to production.
Participate as an active member of the site emergency response team and carry out specialized interventions within area of competence as requested by site representatives.

Required Qualifications
Chartered Engineer qualification (A-levels plus 5 years of study) or Higher National Diploma/Certificate (HND/HNC, A-levels plus 3 years of study), BTS/DUT, or equivalent in a relevant field.
5 to 10 years of professional experience in lifting and rigging operations within oil and gas production environments.
Valid LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) certification.
Proficient knowledge of rigging and lifting safety standards, procedures, and industry best practices.
Experience with rigging equipment certification, inspection, and maintenance processes.
Strong skills in risk assessment techniques and the development of lifting plans.
Competence in using CMMS and SAP/R3 systems for maintenance and equipment management.
Demonstrated leadership abilities including team management, mentoring, and coaching of technical personnel.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on operational safety and quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications
NVQ certification in rigging and lifting.
Prior experience working on offshore production installations or FPSO environments.
Proven track record in conducting and overseeing routine lifting equipment surveys and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Ability to effectively transfer knowledge and mentor personnel in a high-risk operational setting.
