About the Job

We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee.

If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Driver to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State.  The Driver will provide driving support to program activities in Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria.

Your Job Description

Specific Responsibilities

  • Drive NIF vehicles to pick up or drop off employees at their designated duty areas within and, at times, outside Maiduguri.
  • Ensure the safety and security of passengers, goods, and the vehicle.
  • Deliver important documents to required destinations as directed.
  • Ensure all deliveries are signed for and delivered to the correct recipients.
  • Keep NIF vehicles clean and properly maintained at all times.
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on NIF vehicles.
  • Convey NIF staff on assignments within and outside the office to designated destinations.
  • Pick up and drop off NIF staff and partners from the airport to their destinations.
  • Plan and use the most efficient routes to save time.
  • Update the office on the status of vehicle particulars to ensure timely registration and renewals.

The Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience from working as service support staff in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • SSCE of WASSCE or NECO Educational Qualification is required
  • Valid Driver’s License/Driving school certificate
  • Good knowledge of Maiduguri and environs
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
